Last week I was fortunate enough to attend the MAC Shop Cook launch event. The Mac artists were wearing gingham aprons in bright bold colors and fifties themed updoos. They were handing out pigs in a blanket, mini hamburgers as well as Nuvo cocktails, YUMMY!
While many have found the theme offensive and feministic I rarely get caught up in the righteous hype. I don't mind being called shallow and vain as long it's in the name of beauty! (lol) The bold bright pinks, yellow and blues are fun, inviting and perfect for spring! I was pretty pleased with the amazing array of wearable neon pops of color. What did disappoint was the slip cover packaging, it was cute enough to be printed on the product so why didn't they?!? I actually prefer when the product has the theme printed on it. It helps me locate the various collections within my arsenal!
Here’s what I got two kissable lip colors in Scandalisious, a deep dark hot pink with a blue undertone and Flaunting It a dark mauve cooled toned purple:
This was my very first time trying kissable lip colors and I’m pretty impressed. It has the staying power of a stain but the feel of a creamy lipstick. No stickiness at all! I'm hooked.
A Crème blend blush in Restores Dazzle a rich plum. Crème blend blushes another first for moi, they give a soft yet build-able wash of color to your cheeks without the powder finish. I found it to be longer lasting than MAC's regular blushes:
Out of the four quads this was the one with the ohhhhh color payoff. I can't say I have many oranges peachy or coppers in my collection so again it was necessary! The four colors in this quad are call me bubbles (light tan), Fresh daily (orange), full of flavor (coral), brash frosty (reddish copper).
Overall, I’m pleased with the Mac Shop Cook Collection. The event while chaotic was fun! I look forward to the next unveiling with batted breath. My beauties run don’t walk to your nearest mac counter and get something anything before it's too late!
