One of my favorite gifts to receive during the holiday season are books. But not just any books, books having to do with the fashion industry are at the top of my list. You see, I'm a firm believer in learning every thing you can about the industry that you love and there's no better way to learn about fashion than by picking up one of the many books on the subject. Here are five books I'm adding to my personal list this holiday season:
1) Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty
If you missed McQueen at Metropolitan Museum of Art, than this book is perfect for you. Released in conjunction with the exhibit, Savage Beauty features beautiful photos of McQueen's breathtaking collections, with back story from the designer as well as those who worked with him.
2) CARINE ROITFELD: IRREVERENT
Former French Vogue editor-in-chief Carine Roitfeld is fashion. Her daring Parisian chic style sets the tone for Irreverent, which is a history in pictures of Roitfeld's fabulous career. Need inspiration? Then this is the book for you.
3)GUCCI: THE MAKING OF
If you love Gucci then this book is a must own. Gucci: The Making Of is a tribute to the brand, released in conjunction with the opening of the new Gucci Museum in Florence, Italy. It features the history of Gucci, as told through pictures, essays, and commentary. It's the first ever behind the scenes look of the iconic fashion house and a great giftable for up and coming designers.
4) CHRISTIAN LOUBOUTIN
Loubies, Red Bottoms, CL's or just plain Louboutins. Whether you refer to them by proper name or a pseudonym, these iconic shoes are more popular now than they have ever been. But they are more than just a shoe coveted by celebrities, they are twenty years of history for Mr. Louboutin. But how did Christian Louboutin get his start? What inspires him? And why did he choose a red sole as his signature? All this information and more can be found in his just released book. A perfect gift for the woman who loves shoes.Dubbed by designer Tom Ford as "one of the most stylish women living" Daphne Guinness is a true fashion icon. She has inspired countless designers and has worked with some of the most influential names in fashion. She is also the feature of an exhibit currently showing at F.I.T., and don't get me started on her fabulous collection of clothing. She own some of the most unique pieces that you have ever seen. If you love Daphne Guinness, after reading this book you'll love her even more.
