RUNWAY: NYFW Nicholas K Spring 2012 RTW

For spring designer Nicholas K kept it neutral.

A sea of well layered pieces in beige, gray, silver, and white were the theme of her collection and I loved it! Layering can be tricky. Done right and you give off an air of effortless style, done wrong and you could end up looking like a Mad Max reject, but that's not the case here. There was a movement and lightness in this collection that screams spring even though none of the usual pastel tones of the season were used. Even in the men's clothing there was a soft yet rugged vibe, with guys in wisps of sweaters so thin you could almost see through them.
The details are what really made this collection great. Even though the looks appeared basic the jackets were ruffled and the sweaters were sheared and braided. Speaking of the jackets, one of my favorite materials, suede, was lightened up and layered up for the season.
Basic never looked so chic!

P.S.-A big thank you to People's Revolution!
