Around the second week in August I declare that I am no longer buying items for the summer. I stand firm in this resolve, unless I happen to stumble upon a Zanotti sandal sample sale where everything must go for $20, then I hope you can forgive me for wavering. Otherwise it's fall steam ahead, and I begin the hunt for this seasons must have boots.
The past few seasons I have taken a liking to deconstructed leather styles, pre-distressed boots which I help to distress even more in the rain and snow of NYC. But recently I have developed a new found fondness for suede. There's something about the material that feels retro to me. Suede gives me a seventies vibe, and with capes being popular again this season I expect to see a lot of beautiful brown and neutral pairings. Like these slouchy suede boots by Diane Von Furstenberg. With their open toe and camel color they are a great transition boot for the season. A wedge heel makes for a comfortable wear, and the relaxed style would go perfectly with chunky tights and wool shorts. All you need is a floppy wide brim and you are ready for the season.
