Style-IT-Yourself: The Trench Vest AKA My own private Burberry

The Burberry trench has evolved.
Under the direction of designer Christopher Bailey it's gone modern with studs, leather, ruffles, and spikes.  The spring 2011 RTW collection featured my favorite version pictured above.  It has the body of a traditional trench with leather moto-style sleeves.  Part Mad Max and part Mad Men I was in love instantly, so I thought why not make my own budget friendly version.  I contemplated purchasing a trench and tearing off the sleeves, but it seemed so wasteful.  I'm creative, but I don't have a clue as to I would make with the sleeves of a trench coat.  Maybe khaki leg warmers?  Thankfully I didn't have to worry about that as I found the perfect trench vest at H&M.

To get the look I paired the  vest with a leather blazer I already owned.  It doesn't have to be a blazer, it can be any leather jacket you wish.   The vest from retails for $49.50 and I recommend going up a size bigger than you usually wear so that it fits over your jacket.  Pair with leggings and boots and your instantly a rain chic chick.  Burberry's got nothing on me ;)
XOXO
