ShowMeYou'reFresh: Perry Ellis Men's RTW Fall 2011

I don't usually attend a lot of Menswear shows during fashion week, but I hopped at the chance to see the latest from Perry Ellis. When I was in high school the popularity of Perry Ellis urban wear was at it's height.  This show though was all about tradition. Models in well cut wool blazers with patch sleeves (a favorite of mine) and heavy dress coats populated the runway.  There was a bit of Wall Street dressing as suits were paired with gloves and scarfs, a look often worn by gentleman in the financial district who choose to forgo a coat when the weather permits.
A nod to the younger generation was seen in the choice of accessories, a slouchy hat and fingerless gloves were repeated once or twice as were a modern collection of sweaters.   It's like a dad telling his son as he goes off to his first "real" job that he's got to have a good suit and coat.  In this collection he'll find these things, but he'll also be able to build his own collection of new classics.  Images courtesy of WWD
