High/Low: Espadrilles

I'm crowning the espadrille the sandal of the season. Every Summer it makes a return in an array of fabrics, colors, and heights. It's the shoe that looks good with jeans or dresses and a style that's available at a number of different price points. Here are two designer versions that go head to head, or more appropriately heel to heel. ;)

Christian Louboutin's espadrille sandal comes back in different incarnations every year. These are the Carino Plato sandals and they come in black and beige. They feature a four inch wedge and of course there's the signature red sole we can't live without. The round toe with cute bow detail give a casual look, goes great with a pair of denim cutoffs. Call these your starter Louboutins. Retail $425.

Designer Tory Burch's take on the trend comes in print! The heel height is about the same as the previous sandal and this one also features a round toe. They come in navy and coffee and would look haute with a solid color jumper or romper. Retail $165
