BetweenTheLines: Who is Jimmy Choo?

With the recent collaboration between H&M and designer Jimmy Choo the question was often presented to me "Who is Jimmy Choo?" So I figured why not start a post where we go into the history behind the fashion lines. We love the brands now lets know their stories.
Jimmy Choo was born Jimmy Choo Yeang Keat in Malaysia to a family of shoemakers. He made his first pair of shoes at the age of 11 years old. After studying design for many years In 1986 he opened his workshop in North London in an old abandoned hospital that he had converted. His handmade well crafted shoes became so popular and his clientele grew so quickly that he caught the eye of British Vogue accessories Tamara Mellon.
Tamara with funding from her father co-founded The Jimmy Choo Company with Jimmy in 1996. That same year the first boutique opened in London's Knightsbridge. Then in April 2001, Jimmy Choo sold his 50% stake in the company for 10 million pounds.
Leaving co-founder Tamara Mellon and creative director/designer Sandra Choi to lead the brand and lead they did. Today Jimmy Choo is one of the most famous accessories brands with stores all over the world.
