BackToCool: Leigh Military Cotton Jacket by Rag & Bone

This camo jacket by Rag and Bone is stalking me! It's made an appearance in a number of editorials, fashioned according to the theme of the story. It's on all my favorite shopping sites. Paired with denim, leggings or a silky tunic. It is the jacket of the season. Now this is nothing new, we were rocking our army green lightweight flak jackets into the spring. What is new is that designers are producing military inspired outerwear in military prints, shocking! You might be thinking duh! Why wasn't this done earlier?, but this look is harder to pull off than the preppy friendly solid color jackets we saw before. So we were gradually eased in to see if it was appealing and fashionistas have been scooping them up faster than a 7.5 at a Louboutin sample sale. It's the perfect jacket to play with contrasts. Rock it with your most feminine pieces for a sexy tough girl look.

DopeQuotes: Prince

"Cool means being able to hang with yourself. All you have to ask yourself is "Is there anybody I`m afraid of? Is there anybody who if I walked into a room and saw, I`d get nervous?" If not, then you`re cool."-Prince

ShoeGame: Rebecca Minkoff Shoe Collection

It's gotta be the shoes!
Rebecca Minkoff continues to grow and it was a natural transition for my favorite handbag designer to expand into footwear.  The collection features 25 styles in perfect time for spring.  Minkoff has continually won over her cool girl following with her ability to mix hard and soft details in her designs.  I enjoy the use of light and dark colors together.  A favorite from the photos is the nude platform textured pump with the black bottom.  I love that with a basic black jumpsuit (oh yes you will be seeing the jumpsuit carry over into next season).
With a price point between $160-$395 expect this collection to be popular for spring.  Affordable luxury is what Rebecca Minkoff does best.

StrikeAPose: Jessica Szohr for Nylon Magazine September 2010

I have professed my love for Nylon on numerous occasions.  Check out the snaps of actress Jessica Szohr from my guilty pleasure Gossip Girl.  Each character on the show has a different style of dress and I think that Szohr's character Vanessa is my favorite.  It's that mix of boho chic and rock n roll bad girl that I love.  I'm foaming at the mouth and stalking my local newsstands so I can get the info on that black and white jacket with the pink accents.

PutMeOn: Crystal-Embellished Bib Necklace by 3.1 Phillip Lim

You would think that I was a baby the way I go crazy for a bib necklace. It's a statement piece that takes any outfit to the next level. The key to rocking a bib necklace is to keep everything else simple. Clothing in neutral tones look best. I always say you never go wrong with black, beige and gray.
I'm obsessed with Ancient Egypt, and this one by designer Phillip Lim reminds me of the necklaces worn by Egyptian royalty. It's a large gold bead and crystal embellished black stain bib, just as perfect with a slim fitting tuxedo as it is with a sweatshirt. Check it out at www.net-a-porter.com Retail $655

GetFreshTips: Go Shorty

The leather short to some is seen as a fashion oxymoron, sorta like a suede rainbboot would be. It's a piece that begs the question, how do I rock this? Is it a trend only regulated to runways and editorials? Or can it be Incorporated into my fall lineup? The answer is Yes! The key to working this look is all in the fit. You want a loose fit and a respectable length (no booty shorts please!), it gives it a vintage vibe. Tights are a girls best friend with this look Solid black or nude colored ones are basic chic, while a fishnet version makes a sexy statement. Here are two versions that I found for under $200.
Oh my hauteness!

This Leather Tab Short by Topshop features a slight cuff at the hem and are the perfect length. A loose fitting silk blouse and a pair of cute booties look haute with this short, giving it a much more expensive vibe.

The Sparkle and Fade Leather Short by Urban Outfitters features a pleated front and a slightly higher waist. This version can be done more sporty with a body suit, denim jacket and a clean pair of chucks.

TopBag: Amber Notebook Leather Clutch by Alexander Wang

Designer Alexander Wang must have scholastic ambitions with this latest creation. My faithful readers know why I immediately chose this as my latest top bag......PYTHON! Yes, I love my animal prints, but this chic creature clutch also caught my attention because the outside looks like a notebook, metal spirals included and I love notebooks. My notebook nostalgia goes back to when I was younger. I loved collecting books and journals with beautiful covers to hold my deepest feelings and emotions, well as deep as an eight year old could get at the time. Notebooks are a home for creativity and I'm sure that's what Wang had in mind with this bag. Creative, cute, and it's perfect with that little leather dress that's everywhere for fall.

PutMeOn: Sterling Silver Eagle Claw Earring by Pamela Love

I'm used to seeing certain things in pairs. Shoes, socks, gloves, and earrings are all things that look better together. But this earring by Pamela Love is so dope it doesn't need a twin. The Sterling Silver Eagle Claw earring is a single talon shaped masterpiece made for the only the bold. I love interesting jewelry and Love, a New York based designer, is known for her Gothic style pieces. Christmas in August? It's never too early for me to start looking!
